We began our search for antiallergenic
natural paints, manufactured in accordance with
organic chemistry principles (no petrochemical toxins, solvents or pesticides)
because members of the family suffer with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
(MCS) and are know to react badly to the popular mass-market
alternatives - including the water-based ones.
After some searching, we were fortunate enough to try a
natural paint tester that did not trigger any allergies. Best of all, it
had good coverage, was easy to use
and has a pleasant citrus and organic linseed oil smell.
Although we contacted several companies during our search, we found ONLY ONE which was willing to
answer all our questions and provide a full and complete declaration of product content. Their approach has always been proactive, open, frank and professional.
For example, when we asked about 'Low VOC', they provided an interesting; but technical,
explanation about how a natural coating which may contain orange oil
(as a natural solvent) would not necessarily receive a low VOC rating.
For us, Natural Paint was, and still remains, the only sensible option.
